The latest Situation and Outlook Report from Dairy Australia reveals the industry has steadied over the 2025-26 year, although global uncertainty is threatening late season gains.
It confirms a strong turnaround in milk production, which was down 2.4% year-on-year in October, before improving to be only 0.7% lower in March.

The report also coincides with the release of the National Dairy Farmer Survey which found heightened optimism and increased expansion plans over the survey period.
Dairy Australia’s Analysis and Insights Manager, Tom Youl, said conflict in the Middle East and several other factors will continue to shape farmers’ prospects over the coming months.
