Tributes are flowing for renowned Southern Highlands artist John Olsen who passed away.
The 95 year old had been painting in his Southern Highlands studio right up until Saturday.
He passed away peacefully on Tuesday at 6pm at his home near Bowral, with his children, Tim and Louise by his side.
Mr. Olsen’s work will be displayed on the Opera House, at Sydney VIVID next month.
Tim and Louise had the following to say about him:
“Our father was a titan of the art world and beloved by many in Australia and overseas but to us he was Dad, in all the wonderful humaneness, complexity and humanity that word encapsulates,
Painting was his life, and he was painting right up to the last in his studio, with friends calling in to see him which he always loved.
Given Dad’s age however, and the fact his strength has been failing recently, we feared this day was coming.
But nothing can truly prepare you for the loss of a beloved parent, and Dad was that to us and many others.
