Liberal Candidate for Kiama, Serena Copley, welcomed the announcement of opening date for the Shoalhaven Memorial Hospital Acute Services Building.
“28 October 2026 will be a major milestone for the Shoalhaven, with patients able to access health services at the redeveloped building,” Ms Copley said.
“The redevelopment was funded, planned and commenced under the former NSW Liberal Government, delivering one of the largest health infrastructure investments our region has seen.’
“Only Liberal governments have the history of investing and delivering infrastructure that our community needs, and Shoalhaven Hospital is a clear example of that record.
“The Liberals recognised that our region was growing and that our hospital needed to grow with it, and backed our region’s needs with hundreds of millions of dollars in investment.”
The redevelopment will deliver a new Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, additional operating theatres, expanded medical imaging including the hospital’s first MRI, dedicated cardiology facilities and a rooftop helipad.
“The Liberals’ investment means better facilities for our doctors and nurses, better services for patients, and less need for local families to travel outside our region for care,” said Ms Copley.
“Our population continues to grow and so does the pressure on our roads, hospitals and essential services. While Labor has failed to deliver on the current and future needs of our community, the Liberal team stands ready with a clear vision for our region – and this hospital redevelopment is proof of what we deliver in government.
“As the Liberal candidate for Kiama, I will fight for better health services, roads and community amenities across our electorate. I want to see our region continue to receive the infrastructure investment it deserves.”
