Liberal candidates for Kiama and South Coast, Serena Copley and Paul Ell, have called out NSW Labor’s announcement of a rail project for the South Coast for failing to provide any details.
The Liberals claim while Labor’s South Coast team is happy to stand there for announcements, they must confirm when the electrification of the Kiama to Bomaderry Rail Line and the installation of the quadruple tracks between Hurstville to Sutherland will start, finish, and the expected costs.
“This announcement is just typical Labor,” said Ms Copley. “Chris Minns, Liza Butler and Katelin McInerney are trying to get away with the Albanese Labor trick of saying ‘vote for me now, and I’ll tell you the details later’.”
“Local Labor MPs should be able to tell our community today exactly when this project will be started and delivered, but they won’t because Labor is all about headlines and not about delivery.”
Paul Ell said the Government’s timelines are also clearly political, as it looks like 90% of the funding will only start flowing after 2031 and there is no detail on when any projects will start or finish.
“They’re telling the community that it will have to elect Labor twice before the Government has to make this money appear,” said Mr Ell.
“There is yet to be a full business case approved by Infrastructure NSW for many of the projects Labor is promising to deliver, so this promise is flimsier than the piece of paper it’s printed on.”
“At the end of the day, this is the same old Labor that our community is sick and tired of – all headline, no delivery – no start date, no end date, no proper costings or budgeting.”
