Students from 26 schools in the Illawarra and Shoalhaven (see full list next page) will take part in the South Coast Public Schools Dance Festival this week at the Illawarra Performing Arts Centre.
Starting on Tuesday 26 May and running until Friday 29 May, students from both primary and high schools will get the opportunity to perform 46 items in a professional venue in front of their peers and families.

Dance Festival Co-ordinator, Louise Morgan, said the dance festival now in its 38th year, presents an original, entertaining, and professional event, which provides a positive and memorable experience for both teachers, students, and the community.
“Over 500 students from Kindergarten to Year 12 will take part in this year’s festival which provides an opportunity for students to work towards a quality performance in a professional venue,” Mrs Morgan said.
“The Festival showcases these students in ten diverse performance program events throughout the week. The programs highlight the range of styles explored through the study of dance in our public schools.
“Each performance reveals the determination of students and teachers to explore the art of dance and to achieve performances of the highest quality.
“These performances are underpinned by technical training, stamina, creativity, confidence, cooperation, and respect for one another fostered by their dedicated and talented teachers.
“The dance items are based on strong themes, with students displaying a compelling idea utilising a range of music styles and movements that will feature many memorable moments.”
