Voice rescission motion lost

There was plenty of passion at last night’s extraordinary meeting of Shoalhaven City Council.

Representatives from the YES Campaign were on hand to present council with a cheque for $3000, which will go towards erecting YES flags in the city.

Police were also on hand to keep the situation in check.

Councillor Paul Ell said it’s unfortunate their rescission motion didn’t get up.

“It was debated and the numbers didn’t shift unfortunately,”Councillor Ell said.

“The Mayor’s original notice of motion of supporting the Yes vote was carried.

“I think it’s an incredibly disappointing outcome for the city because it will only create division.”
