Transport for NSW will hold a series of drop-in information sessions where community members can meet the project team and learn more about the latest design changes for a six kilometre stretch of the Princes Highway south of Nowra.

Refinements have been made to the design of the Princes Highway upgrade from Jervis Bay Road to Hawken Road which aims to deliver safer and more reliable journeys on the NSW South Coast.

The $500 million upgrade, funded by the Australian and NSW governments, includes upgrading six kilometres of the existing highway to two lanes in each direction, separated by a median barrier, as well as an intersection upgrade at Hawken Road, Tomerong.

Following community feedback and further investigations, changes have been made to the design of the upgrade that will further minimise environmental and community impacts while maintaining the safety benefits of the project.

The refined design includes an underpass at the Princes Highway and Hawken Road intersection that will loop under the highway to connect Hawken Road and Blackbutt Range Road.

Additionally, refinements have been made to some private and local road accesses to improve safety and efficiency.

Transport continues to work with MRB Technical Services to finalise the concept design and Review of Environmental Factors for the upgrade which aims to deliver improved safety, traffic efficiency, freight access and network resilience for transport users.

Transport is holding drop-in information sessions on the following dates.
