Local Government demands petrol and gas producers pay more tax

Mayors from parts of Australia that have been battered by floods and bushfires have joined forces to demand petrol and gas producers pay more tax.

Thirty-seven council and shire leaders have put their names to an open letter to the federal government including Shoalhaven Councillor Tonia Gray.

The letter said the extra revenue should go to local councils to pay for the impacts of climate change.
