Jervis Bay artist excels at Arts in the Valley

Jervis Bay artist Akira Kamada has been named the Outdoor winner at Arts in the Valley

He won $20,000 for his entry titled ” Birth ” which is a suspended husk of interwoven natural and industrial materials.

Judges Janet Lawrence and Michael Snape described the work as simultaneously physically present but also ephemeral.

This award also acknowledges his unique contribution to sculpture in Australia with his work’s sensibility and sensitivity.

Highly Commended Outdoor was awarded to South Coast artist Greer Taylor.
