Ulladulla’s Gayle Dunn who established a foundation that provides young people with access to social, vocational, educational and counselling services has been named the 2023 NSW Minerals Council Regional Woman of the Year at the NSW Women of the Year Awards.
Ms Dunn from Ulladulla established the Dunn and Lewis Youth Development Foundation following the death of her son in the 2002 Bali Bombings.
Deputy Premier Paul Toole congratulated Ms Dunn for being an inspiring woman, who has provided a unique and beneficial opportunity for her community.
“It brings me such joy to be able to celebrate and acknowledge Gayle Dunn and the inspiring work she does investing in the future of our regional communities by lifting up and empowering young people,” Mr Toole said.
“She has turned unimaginable personal tragedy into hope, and is incredibly deserving of this recognition, as are all of our nominees.”
Minister for Women Bronnie Taylor said women are the backbone of regional NSW.
The NSW Minerals Council Regional Woman of the Year is awarded to a role model who shines a light on the accomplishments of an extraordinary woman living in regional NSW.
