The Shoalhaven has turned out at the Nowra Showground for the Nowra Naidoc Family Fun Day.
The theme for the this year’s Naidoc celebrations is ‘For Our Elders’.
Cultural group Gadhungal Murring and children performed traditional dances and the Mudjingaal Yangamba women’s choir sang in language.
Community groups and organisations had presentations and displays, including traditional fire making techniques.
It was the first year since 2019 the Naidoc event has been held because of the COVID 19 years while 2022 was washed out by heavy rain.
Many came from other mobs across NSW, all paid respects to elders past, present and future.
But the family fun day was really about the goodjagas and jarjums, indigenous and non indigenous children together walking the path of reconciliation.
