Police have launched an investigation into the theft of memorial plaques for the victims of a horror crash at Buxton.

The plaques remembering five teenagers between 14 and 16 were fixed to benches along the shared pedestrian and cycle path between Picton and Tahmoor last year.

The tragedy happened in 2022 when a speeding car they were travelling in crashed into a tree at Buxton. The driver, Tyrell Edwards, who survived, is serving a 12-year prison sentence.
