Motorists are being encouraged to allow extra travel time as the Easter long weekend and school holidays kick off, with heavy congestion expected at key pinch points across NSW and on major routes in and out of Sydney.

Transport for NSW’s Executive Director of Operations Management, Mr Rob Austin said the Easter break is traditionally one of the busiest times on NSW roads.

“Our message is simple: slow down, stay patient, and make safety your top priority. “Nobody likes delays, and a little pre-trip planning and avoiding peak travel times can make your journey smoother and far less stressful.

On the South Coast and Southern Highlands the busiest pinch points, with predicted delays of up to 45 minutes, are expected on the Princes Highway southbound at Milton on Friday 3 April, the Princes Highway northbound at Ulladulla on Tuesday 7 April and Hume Highway northbound at Pheasants Nest on Monday 6 April.
