Man drowns at Werri Beach

Another drowning on the South Coast has been confirmed after a swimmer was found unresponsive in the water.

About 3.20pm Sunday 15 March 2026, emergency services were called to Werri Beach, near Kiama, following reports a male, believed to be aged in his 20s, had not returned from the water.

A multi-agency search involving officers from Lake Illawarra Police District , alongside NSW Ambulance Paramedics, Port Kembla Water Police, the Westpac Helicopter, and Surf Life Saving NSW.

Just after 5.00pm, Water Police located the body of the male swimmer. He could not be revived.

Police will prepare a report for the information of the Coroner.
