Liza Butler reaffirms commitment to Lake Conjola

November 3, 2025 9:40 am in by

Member for the South Coast Liza Butler has reaffirmed her commitment to putting community safety first in the ongoing work to address flood mitigation and dredging at Lake Conjola.

This follows what she said are misleading and politically motivated comments from former Liberal Member for Bega and two-time federal Liberal candidate for Gilmore, now Shoalhaven City Council CEO, Andrew Constance.

To ensure the community receives accurate and timely updates, free from political interference or misinformation, Ms Butler has invited residents to sign up to receive direct updates on the issue here.

Ms Butler has been working closely with the Minns Labor Government and the Lake Conjola community to deliver a safe and practical solution that reduces flood risk and supports long-term resilience.

As part of this work, Ms Butler has kept Shoalhaven City Council informed and collaborated with them throughout this process.

Despite this, the new Liberal CEO of Shoalhaven City Council issued a media release attacking the Minns Labor Government and the Member for South Coast, without any prior contact or attempt to discuss the matter with Ms Butler.

Ms Butler described the move as partisan politics that have caused unnecessary concern among residents.
