Wingecarribee Shire Council is inviting residents to learn practical sewing and clothing repair skills through a four-part workshop series designed to reduce textile waste and help clothes last longer.
Funded through the NSW Government’s Local Government Waste Solutions Fund, the initiative supports Council’s efforts to promote waste reduction, resource recovery and a circular economy.
Repair, Rewear & Reimagine will offer hands-on workshops covering simple clothing repairs, hand sewing, upcycling and creative mending techniques.
Suitable for beginners with little or no sewing experience, the workshops will help participants build confidence in repairing and reusing clothing rather than throwing away items that could still be worn.
Participants will learn useful techniques to extend the life of their clothing, save items from unnecessary disposal and discover creative ways to refresh their favourite pieces.
The workshop series supports Council’s Community Strategic Plan outcome of responsibly and respectfully managing resources, and its 2025-2029 Delivery Program actions to reduce waste, promote recycling and encourage circular economy practices through
community education and initiatives.
Tickets are $15 per participant, per workshop. Light refreshments will be provided.

- Quick Fix: Buttons & Simple Hems – Thursday 22 October
- Make It Last: Rips & Repairs – Saturday 24 October
- Tattered to Treasure: Upcycle Your Favourite Pieces – Thursday 26 November
- Visible Mending: Creative Repair with Style – Saturday 28 November
