A tornado that struck Ulladulla just after 1pm on Sunday damaged 29 buildings, with three properties left uninhabitable, including two homes and a business.

According to Tracy Provest, the local SES commander, around 60 SES volunteers responded, supported by Fire and Rescue, Police and Shoalhaven Council staff in the clean-up effort.

Despite extensive damage, no-one was injured.

Trees fell onto three cars, including one occupied vehicle, but the occupant escaped unharmed.

Tracy Provest described it as “very, very lucky” given the severity of the storm.

Damage was concentrated in a small area around Ulladulla Harbour and the CBD.

An entire garage was lifted onto the roof of a house, a gazebo collapsed at the Ulladulla Sea Pool, and heavy rain delivered about 20mm in just five to 10 minutes.

Residents also helped clear debris from the town centre.
