The Mental Health Support Worker plays a crucial role in supporting participants with complex mental health needs and disabilities. This role includes conducting risk assessments, contributing to and implementing recovery plans, working within open community environments, supporting participants in achieving their goals, and ensuring activities are engaging, safe, and aligned with individual support plans.
Skills Required
Certificate IV in Mental Health and Mental Health First Aid or 2 years work experience working within psycho-socical/mental health work environment and happy to work towards gaining a Certificate IV in Mental Health Prior experience as a support worker in mental health-focused environments, community outreach, or residential settings. Desired: 2 years relevant mental health industry experience. Strong skills in conducting and updating risk assessments. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise professionally with diverse stakeholders. In-depth knowledge of the NDIS, including operational guidelines and effective utilisation of NDIS packages for participants. Current driver’s license, access to a car, NDIS worker screening clearance, NSW Working with Children Check, and First Aid and CPR certification.
