Member for Goulburn, Wendy Tuckerman MP, has welcomed the announcement of more than $1.36 million in NSW Government funding to upgrade the Goulburn Regional Hockey Centre, describing it as a significant state investment in one of the region’s most successful sporting communities.
Under the NSW Government’s Active Regional Communities program, Goulburn Mulwaree Council will receive $1,365,130 to upgrade the centre’s playing field and help create a modern, two-field competition-standard venue capable of hosting major
championships and supporting the continued growth of hockey across the region.
Mrs Tuckerman said the funding would provide long-term benefits for local players, volunteers, families and the broader community.
“This funding is particularly pleasing because it builds on the $3.8 million I secured under the former Liberal and Nationals Government in 2020 to transform the Goulburn Regional Hockey Centre into a venue capable of hosting state and national competitions. That investment delivered the foundation infrastructure needed to elevate hockey in our region and support future growth.”
“Today’s announcement completes an important next stage of that vision. Goulburn Hockey has long been one of the region’s great sporting success stories, and this investment will ensure local players, volunteers and families have access to facilities that match their commitment while strengthening Goulburn’s position as a premier regional sporting destination.”
Mrs Tuckerman said the completed facility would help meet growing demand in the region while attracting visitors and bigger events to the city.
“A complete, modern, competition-standard facility will strengthen Goulburn’s reputation as a regional hockey hub and bring significant economic benefits through tournaments, carnivals and championships that attract visitors from across New South
Wales and beyond.”
Mrs Tuckerman congratulated Goulburn Mulwaree Council and Goulburn District Hockey Association.
“Together we have fought hard to secure this funding. This investment is a testament to the dedication and advocacy of local hockey administrators, volunteers and Council.”
“I look forward to seeing these upgrades delivered and to watching Goulburn Hockeycontinue to thrive for many years to come,” Mrs Tuckerman said.
