A man has been charged after firearms, ammunition and drugs were allegedly seized following a search warrant at a home, south of Nowra.
About 9.15am on Friday 7 August 2026, officers attached to the Southern Region Domestic Violence High Risk Offender Team with assistance from South Coast Police District conducted an AVO compliance check and served the occupant with a Firearms Prohibition Order at a home in Walmer Avenue, Sanctuary Point.
Following inquiries, police arrested the occupant, a 41-year-old man, after information obtained during the investigation indicated a firearm may be at the premises.
A short time later, police executed a search warrant and allegedly seized a rifle, shortened rifle, glock style gel blaster, ammunition, 1.5g Methylamphetamine and 1.5g Cannabis and a 15g of a crystalline substance also believed to be methylamphetamine.
The man was taken to Nowra Police Station. He was charged with seven offences;
- Possess unregistered firearm-prohibited firearm
- Possess unregistered firearm-pistol
- Possess shortened firearm (not pistol) without authority
- Possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority
- Not keep firearm safely-prohibited firearm
- Possess prohibited drug (2 counts)
He was refused bail and appeared in Bail Division Court 3 on Saturday 8 August 2026, before he was formally refused bail to appear in Nowra Local Court on Friday 21 August 2026.
