NSW deployment to U.S. wildfires

26 incident management and specialist firefighters from NSW, including James Cowan from the Southern Highlands and Andrew Sweeney from Gerringong have been deployed to areas within US, following a formal request from the National Interagency Fire Centre in the US.

The NSW contingent is part of a 74 strong member deployment from across Australia, coordinated through the AFAC National Resource Sharing Centre.

The group will assist in battling more than 72 large wildfires which have already burnt millions of hectares across the United States.
