There are growing calls to fix the electricity market as a new report suggests many households across the South Coast and Southern Highlands are paying significantly more than they should.
The latest Consumer Energy Report Card found only 29% of Australians understand how their electricity bill is calculated with 37% paying more than the default offer.
Despite that, many consumers say it’s too difficult and time consuming to compare plans, while 1 in 4 believe switching is not worth the effort.
Patrick Veyret from Energy Consumers Australia says they want to see the introductionof a ‘consumer duty’ that ensures LOCAL HOUSEHOLDS are getting a better deal.
