Residents and visitors in our coastal communities are enjoying safer and more connected walking and cycling routes following the completion of two major footpath projects at Murramarang Road, Kioloa and Matron Porter Drive between Milton and Narrawallee.
The footpaths are being delivered under NSW Government funding aimed to better connect communities through cycling and walking infrastructure.
Mayor Patricia White said together, the projects represent a major step forward in creating safer, more accessible and more sustainable transport options for the local area.
“That’s four out of six footpaths Council has delivered across the Shoalhaven under NSW Government funding to promote more physical activity,” Cr White said.
“It’s such great news to finally have a continuous footpath connection between Milton and Narrawallee and it’s already being put to great use by locals over the holiday period,” she said.
“I’m also exited that the Murramarang Road path will now provide that improved safe walking access between Kioloa township and Bawley Point that the community has been asking for.”
Member for South Coast, Liza Butler said she was thrilled the Minns Government was delivering $5 million in funding for community infrastructure.
“The NSW Government’s investment of more than $5 million in footpaths and shared user paths across the Shoalhaven is about far more than building infrastructure – it’s about strengthening connections and supporting healthier, more vibrant communities,” Ms Butler said.
“These new paths will make a real difference for families, cyclists and people of all ages who walk for leisure or exercise, providing a safer and more accessible link between key local destinations.”
