Wingecarribee Shire Council is inviting residents to join community workshops to help
develop local resilience plans across four areas of the Shire.
Community resilience plans identify local strengths, risks and priorities, and set actions to strengthen community preparedness, response and recovery from emergencies and
disasters.
The initiative aligns with Council’s Safe Highlands 2025–2029 Plan and will be used to
guide community readiness activities, while also informing regional disaster adaptation
planning and State-level mitigation initiatives.
Between 2019 and 2025, Wingecarribee endured an average of approximately one
disaster declaration every five months, highlighting the importance of proactive,
community-led resilience planning.
Participating community members will attend two facilitated workshops for their area,
providing local insight and lived experience to inform the development of the plans.
