Child restraint updates

Motorists and residents across the South Coast and Highlands are being invited to have their say on proposed updates to the Australian Road Rules for child restraints.

The review is focusing on the use of child restraints, adult seatbelts and seating positions, children with medical conditions or disabilities, as well as taxi and ride-share services.

It comes as recent data reveals 75% of children fatally injured on the nation’s roads were not restrained in line with best practice for their age.

Chief Executive of the National Transport Commission, Michael Hopkins, says they particularly want to hear from parents and roads users from regional areas.
