The Minns Labor Government is progressing the delivery of a new public primary school and public preschool for growing suburbs Worrigee and South Nowra, with the site now identified at 9 Worrigee Rd, Worrigee, ensuring local children in this growing area have access to a world class public education.
The public preschool will open first on Day 1, Term 1 2027, followed by the public primary school, which will open Day 1, Term 1 2028.
The new public preschool, to be co-located with the primary school, will offer 120 free places each week for local children. It is part of the Minns Labor Government’s historic preschool building boom and commitment to build a co-located public preschool alongside every new public primary school.
South Coast MP Liza Butler said, “This brand new public primary school and preschool will cater for the growing number of families in South Nowra and Worrigee. At the same time, we’re moving forward with the much-needed upgrade to Nowra East Public School, ensuring every child has access to high-quality education and facilities close to home.
The Minns Labor Government’s historic investment will see 100 public preschools open across NSW by 2027, including 49 in regional NSW.
The new primary school will include classrooms with multipurpose spaces and shared common areas, a multipurpose hall, canteen, covered outdoor learning area (COLA), library, specialist support class facilities, a sports field and multipurpose sports court.
In addition to delivering the new primary school, planning for an upgrade at Nowra East Public School is well underway as part of the Minns Labor Government’s commitment to deliver new and upgraded schools for the Shoalhaven region.
An information session is planned for the Nowra East Public School upgrade on Thursday, 31 July from 2.30pm-5.30pm in the school’s hall.
