Parents of school children at Cambewarra Public School are fuming over a request for them to supply classroom basics like whiteboard markers, erasers and paper towels.

The Daily Telegraph reports some schools are resorting to the desperate pleas, due to a lack of funding.

Tabitha Booth who's son attends Cambewarra Public School says she was asked to help out by supplying paper and a bottle of hand soap.

The Education Department has been quick to respond saying it's voluntary for parents to participate.

Parents have also raised concerns about a perceived lack of Government funding.
