The New South Wales Government will invest $2 Million into the Shoalhaven Regional Art Gallery and the Jervis Bay Maritime Museum as part of its Regional Cultural Fund.

Most of that will go toward installing climate control, allowing the galleries to host rare artwork that requires special protection.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian is in the Shoalhaven, she says credit belongs to local community members who pushed for the upgrades.

"We know what this means in not just supporting local residents here but attracting tourists and artists into the future and that's positive all year round", Ms Berejiklian said.

Director of the Jervis Bay Maritime Museum Diana Lorentz says they'll put the money to good use.

"We can't show Arthur Boyd paintings for example from Bundanon because we don't have the correct humidity control in our gallery", Ms Lorentz said.

"We'll be getting climate control as part of that process", she said.
