Shoalhaven City Council has been given a funding boost in an effort to combat shoplifting, with $75,000 to go towards training local police, council officers and community members.
The training will demonstrate how the layout of retail spaces can be modified to discourage shoplifting and make it easier to catch thieves.
South Coast MP Shelley Hancock says last year, more than 330 shoplifting incidents were recorded in our region.
“In 2016, the highest rates of shoplifting in the Shoalhaven were in Nowra’s CBD and Stockland Shopping Centre, Sanctuary Point, Huskisson and Berry", Ms Hancock said.
"so this funding is welcome news for the South Coast to combat shoplifting in our retail centres”, she said.
