The Federal Labor Candidate for Gilmore has slammed employment figures quoted this week by Local Member Ann Sudmalis saying the overall figure is much worse than 7.7 percent.

Fiona Phillips says the December 2017 figures for Nowra increased to 13.8 percent, up from 11.4 on the previous 18 Months.

And St Georges Basin increased from 11. percent to 13.3 percent.

Ms Phillips says solutions are needed.

"Labor have already committed to guaranteeing TAFE funding, investing in apprenticeships and also requiring one in 10 jobs on public infrastructure projects to be filled by a local apprentice", Ms Phillips said.
