Shoalhaven City Council has given tacit approval to increase building heights in Ulladulla.

The move initially gives the proposed Parson Street development the go-ahead for building heights to rise from 7.5 metres to 11 metres.

It will need to be gazetted through the Department of Planning.

Shoalhaven Mayor Amanda Findley says Council will also prepare a planning proposal to increase the height of some areas of the CBD and residential areas.

"In parts of Deering Street they're going to 14 metres but not all of Deering Street, just in the commercial area...then on the R3 residential area, closest to the ocean, that will also be going to 11 metres", Councillor Findley said.

"Given the history of Ulladulla, re-development hasn't been something that's been happening quickly, so the changes will be slow in being taken up" she said.
