With today being Harmony Day, the Shoalhaven City Mayor says she's quite disappointed with alleged racial attacks within our community.

Harmony Day celebrates cultural diversity coinciding with the United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.

Amanda Findley says it's important to set the right example for our kids and say no to racism.

"There are still racist slurs being called after people...when people look at them they think that they're from a particular background and that to me sends a really poor message to our young people," Mayor Findley says.

"I think that in the Shoalhaven we should get right behind our schools and all of us should say no to racism," she says.
