The crew of Marine Rescue Ulladulla was called to assist a yacht competing in the Sydney to Hobart race after it reported problems in rough conditions off the Shoalhaven coast.

The crew of Hell's bells contacted Marine Rescue Ulladulla  when they experienced difficulties with their motor and generator approximately 20 nautical miles south east of Ulladulla, near Brush Island.

Rescue vessel Ulladulla 30 was tasked to rendezvous with the yacht Hell’s Bells, outside the harbour and towed it and the crew safely into the Ulladulla Harbour.

Three Sydney to Hobart competitors sought refuge in Ulladulla Harbour after sustaining damage as the fleet was battered by rough seas and strong winds on the first night of the iconic blue water classic.

Ulladulla 30 was manned by Unit Commander David Hall and crew personnel Greg King, David Catton, Noel Ralph and Jan Pryde.
