No new cases in a COVID milestone

There were no new COVID cases in the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District in the 24 hours to 8pm on Sunday in a major milestone for the region.

It is the first time the health district has recorded no new cases since soon after the outbreak began in June.

And it was the second day in a row of no new cases in the Shoalhaven.

Despite the continued low case numbers, health officials continue to urge people to be vigilant for even the mildest of symptoms and to come forward for testing and vaccination.

The local testing rate remains steady with around 20,000 COVID-19 tests undertaken across the health district each week.

The district’s vaccination clinics are offering booster doses of the Pfizer vaccine to people aged 18 years and older, six months after their second dose.
