Nowra man arrested over Sanctuary Point murder

A Nowra man has been arrested at Silverwater Jail and charged with murdering David McArthur in Sanctuary Point in July.

The 39-year-old Nowra man was charged with murder when homicide squad detectives visited the correctional facility this morning.

He was remanded in custody and is due to face Nowra Local Court today.

The arrest follows an investigation into Mr McArthur's stabbing death at a caravan park on Ethel Street, Sanctuary Point, on July 25.

When police were called to Mr McArthur's cabin they found him near the doorway with a single stab wound to his chest.

Officers attempted CPR on 49-year-old Mr McArthur, but he could not be revived and died at the scene.

The murder led to extensive inquiries and Mr McArthur's parents last week appealing for information, before today's arrest.

Investigations under Strike Force Frawley continue.
