New Shoalhaven COVID cases under investigation

Two new COVID cases from the Shoalhaven's 2540 postcode are being investigated as they are not linked to any known cases.

They are among 19 new cases in the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District for the 24 hours to 8pm Tuesday, including eight from the Shellharbour Local Government Area and seven from Wollongong.

There were no new cases in Kiama.

There have now been 2,304 local cases of COVID-19 in the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District since the start of the current outbreak in June.

At 8pm on Tuesday there were 25 COVID-19 patients being treated in the district's hospitals.

NSW Health has confirmed the deaths of two men in their 90s from a Tarrawanna Aged Care Facility where they acquired their infections.

Both had received two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine and had underlying health conditions.

They were among seven deaths across the state linked to COVID-19 for the 24 hours to 8pm Tuesday, during which 283 people across NSW tested positive to the virus.
