The State Government is making solid headway implementing all 76 recommendations from an inquiry into last year’s bushfires, according to the first progress report on the work of Resilience NSW which was tabled last week.

The Independent Bushfire Group says there have been vital work on safety equipment, and new backburning protocols will help firefighters faced with difficult decisions.

It says new night-capable helicopters and spotter planes will help control lightning fires before they get out of control.

However, the group is disappointed about progress on managing the long-term ecosystem impacts of bushfire.
