Big names gear up for Husky tri festival



The Shimano Huskisson Triathlon Festival kicks off this Friday, with many events already fully booked due to covid limitations.

There's still spots in Friday's 500 metre and one kilometre Ocean Swim events, Saturday's Super Sprint and the TriKids events for 7-9 year old and 10-12 years old.

You'll have to be quick to secure a spot in the the 2, 5, or 10 kilometre fun runs on Saturday.

Sunday's main events, the Classic, Ultimate and Aquabike events are all fully booked.

Organiser Hew Colless from Elite Energy is expecting some exciting finishes, with big prize money on the line.

"For the ultimate, which is essentially a half iron man, on this Sunday, we have around 45 professional athletes all completing for a prize purse of total of around $35,000," he said.

In its 16th year, the “Big Husky” Triathlon Festival has grown to become one of Australia’s most popular long course events.
