The woman who headed up a campaign to stop the Education Department selling off a parcel of land at Mollymook says she had mixed emotions after hearing they had won.

Locals formed action group Mollymook Says and went in hard to stop the sale with the bushland set to go to auction next month.

And it worked... South Coast MP Shelley Hancock announced yesterday the block of bushland on Garside Road had been withdrawn from sale.

LIZ O'CONNELL said she was stunned... " I felt like a little kid with those big emotions that they don't know whether to laugh or cry, or.. I was a bit overwhelmed I think. Yea, obviously just so ecstatic ."

"After that all blew off after a few minutes, everyone just can't believe it. We're just so happy about it. It wasn't the long haul that we thought we might have to face." Ms O'Connell said.
