The Shoalhaven Rural Fire Service has welcomed the arrival of the first of six Erickson S-64 Air Cranes that will be stationed around the country ahead of the summer bushfire season.
The impressive ‘Gypsy Lady’ arrived in Sydney this week on board an airlifter plane and is now ready for operation.
RFS Shoalhaven District officer Paul Lyddiard has welcome the largest of the fire fighting helicopters which he says are very versatile and can dump a large load of retardant. But, after last year’s horror season, he hopes the aircraft will not be required in the Shoalhaven this summer.
