An investigation is underway following three public place shootings on our south coast at the weekend.

About 11pm Sunday shots were  fired into a home on View Street, Batehaven.

Police believe a man was at home at the time of the alleged shooting, and a vehicle was heard to be leaving the scene shortly after the shots rang out.

About 1am Monday shots were  fired into another home on the Kings Highway at Nelligen.

Then about an hour later  three males were approached by three men armed with firearms on the Princes Highway just south of Batemans Bay.

A scuffle followed and a man was hit in the head with the back of a firearm.

The three men attended Batemans Bay Hospital before reporting the incident to police.

Police received information that prior to the assault, one of the  offenders attended a nearby service station and demanded other customers leave, before leaving the store without further incident.

Strike Force Wollumbin has since been established to investigate the circumstances surrounding the three incidents.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact Batemans Bay police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
