Man charged with possessing gel blaster at Ulladulla

Police are reminding locals about the importance of having the correct licensing and permits for firearms.

A 19 year old man has been charged with allegedly possessing a ‘gel blaster’ assault rifle in Ulladulla last month.

Just after midnight on August 14, Officers from the South Coast Police District were patrolling Golden Valley Drive, when they spotted two men, one armed with a firearm.

The Officers drew their firearms and ordered the man to drop the weapon.

The rifle was taken away along with parts and ammunition.

The 19 year old was arrested and taken to Ulladulla Police Station where he was charged with alleged possess unregistered firearm and unauthorised person possess firearm.

He was given conditional bail to appear at Milton Local Court today

His companion was released without charge.

Police say gel blasters’ are classified as a firearm in NSW and require relevant licencing or permits to have one in your possession.

It's also an offence to supply, acquire, possess or use a firearm that isn't registered.
