Two 12 metre steel structures have been placed in the ocean off Perkins Beach to provide a new habitat for many species of fish.
The Department of Primary Industries worked over two days to put the structures in place.
They were towed by a tug, flooded and dropped more than 30 metres to the seafloor.
It is hoped the artificial reef will provide a home for many different species including snapper, silver trevally, mulloway, blue mackerel and yellowtail kingfish.
It's also expected to attract fisherfolk from all over, looking to add to their catch!
