A Police chase in the Shoalhaven resulted in a driver allegedly reaching speeds of 200 kilometres per hour in a 100 zone.

Just before 9:30 this morning, a Volkswagon Golf was seen driving dangerously on the Kings Highway between Queanbeyan and Bungendore.

Checks showed the car had allegedly been stolen during a carjacking in the ACT.

About two hours later, the vehicle was seen by Police travelling north on Braidwood Road at Yerriyong.

When the driver failed to stop a pursuit was initiated.

Road spikes were eventually deployed and the 25-year-old male driver was arrested at the intersection of Braidwood Road and Albatross Road, Nowra Hill.

He was taken to Nowra Police Station and charged with drive unlicensed, drive at a speed dangerous, police pursuit (Skye’s Law), and illegal use of conveyance.

He was refused bail and will appear in Nowra Local Court tomorrow.
