Shelley Hancock stands up for Terara Public School

A " let me be clear" speech in state parliament by South Coast MP SHELLEY HANCOCK has added to assurances from the Education Department that TERARA Public School east of Nowra will not be closing.

There have been fears of the school's possible closure after the Education Department issued a state-wide directive for schools to stick to the rules regarding out-of-area enrolments.

Parents feared such a move would severely reduce the small school's student population and possibly lead to its closure.

The Education Department issued a statement saying that was not going to happen and Ms Hancock used a speech in  parliament this week to emphatically state it won't be happening on her watch..."let me be clear, as long as I am the Member for South Coast I will never allow the closure of Terara Public School."
