Gerringong wagon rollover could have been far worse

Police believe a mechanical fault could be responsible for a tractor towed wagon rolling on a property near Gerringong yesterday.

Around 30 people were on board the trailer when it toppled at a farm on Rose Valley Road.

Members from Gerringong RFS were among the first responders.

They made sure there was no risk of fire from broken fuel lines or the risk of further slippage as paramedics treated the injured.

Gerringong RFS said on a Facebook post the that wagon overturned just metres from a very steep downhill slope.

The multi-agency response worked together to assess and treat the injured, prevent further injury and damage and restore normality as quickly and effectively as possible.

The post said, "A great outcome, considering the potential this incident had to be far worse."

Three people were taken to Wollongong Hospital with minor injuries.
