Kiama MP Gareth Ward has slammed a pledge by the Greens for a Universal Basic Income trial on the South Coast saying it's a crazy policy.
Under the trial, all residents in South Nowra would receive an income of $700 a fortnight regardless of their income.
The Greens say it would take away the pressure of those who are struggling, having to deal with Centrelink bureaucracy, but Mr Ward says there are far better ways to spend the money.
"If you're earning $200,000 or $300,000 per annun under the Greens proposal, you still get $700 a fortnight," Mr Ward said.
"You know what I want to do with that money, I want to invest that back into hospitals, schools roads and the things that people want," he said.
