The latest unemployment figures for the state shows the jobless rate for the greater Illawarra stands at around 4.5 per cent.
Member for Kiama Gareth Ward says there's a few reasons for the big improvement, including the Berry to Bomaderry Highway upgrade, the South Coast Correctional Centre, hospital improvements and the Albion Park Rail Bypass.
Mr. Ward says when they formed Government, our state was ranked eighth in the state, but now it's number one.
He says it's a true reflection on the economic environment the Government has created.
The overall jobless rate in NSW is 3.9 per cent.
