A man is due to face court after a woman died when their car crashed into a creek on the NSW mid-north coast.
The car went into Stoney Creek at Pembrooke on Friday morning and quick-acting bystanders managed to pull the male driver from the vehicle.
The female passenger was also pulled out and treated at the scene but died, NSW Police said in a statement.
The driver, a 44-year-old man, was taken to Port Macquarie Base Hospital with minor injuries. He underwent mandatory testing and was released.
Around 7pm on Friday, officers attended a home at Telegraph Point and arrested the man.
He was taken to Port Macquarie Police station and charged with dangerous driving occasioning death and negligent driving occasioning death.
The man was refused bail to appear at Port Macquarie Local Court later on Saturday.
