Severe weather warning in place

A severe weather warning is in place for damaging winds across the Coast and Highlands.

The conditions are being caused by a strong cold front over the state's west which will sweep across the remainder of New South Wales.

A low pressure system associated with this front is forecast to deepen near Bass Strait this evening and then slowly move away to the east.

We can expect wind speeds averaging 60 to 70 km/h with peak gusts in excess of 90 km/h.
